Welcome
The second largest city in France, Lyon is the jewel in the crown of the Rhône-Alpes region and is also an ideal location for basing yourself whilst on holiday. Not only are the cities of Saint-Etienne and Chambèry within close reach, but it is also a short drive to the Swiss border and the city of Geneva. Lyon is famed for being a centre of cuisine and for it's traboules (passages and courtyards) in Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Place Bellecour, the Basilique de Fourvière and the Theatres Romains de Fourvière are also well worth a visit.

Lyon International Airport, otherwise known as Saint-Exupèry International Airport (Aeroport Lyon Saint-Exupèry) is located approximately twenty kilometres east of Lyon proper. It is one of the busiest airports in France, with two runways, three terminals and over seven million passengers annually. Many airlines fly into the airport including BMI and British Airways (Terminal 1) and Easy Jet (Terminal 3), with Air France being the main airline to use the facilities. As the region around Lyon is best explored by car it is recommended you make use of the car hire facilities located on the first level of the carpark complex - companies with desks in this location include Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, National and Sixt. Once outside the airport take the D29 south to the A432; this will in turn link into the A43/E70-711 which will take you straight into the centre of Lyon.
